2011 ALIVE AFTER FIVE EVENTS

TUESDAY EVENING, 5:30 Until 8:30 P.M.NOTICE - Due to weather, this event is re-scheduled to Tuesday, Sept. 27 - everything else remains the same.
It will be exciting evening in downtown Oxford as "THE LEGENDS OF BEACH" will be the entertainers for the last Alive After Five event of this year. From 5:30 until 8:30 pm, this incredible group will be wowing the crowd with their classic beach music, Motown classics, rhythm and blues, soul, rock and blues. They will be performing many of the "old, familiar tunes", as well as many styles of music. Several members of the group are former members of "The Embers" band, as well as a new addition, Terri Gore, daughter of well-known lead singer, Jackie Gore.
THE LEGENDS OF BEACH are a group composed of eight musicians, including four former members of the beach music group, "The Embers". Lead singer, Jackie Gore, is the composer and original lead voice of the beach music classic "I Love Beach Music." Other former Embers are Gerald David and Johnny Barker, who wrote the classic "Summertime's Calling Me". Additional musicians are Tony Davis—drums and vocals, Pat Carpenter—guitar and vocals and Eddie Blair—sax and vocals, along with Steve Davis, former sound technician with The Embers for 25 years. Recently joining the group is Jackie's daughterTerri Gore Lemonds on lead vocals, well-known throughout the Carolina's for her many beach music hits.
The group plays beach music classics that were known many years ago, as well as some brand new, original beach music songs. Johnny Barker has written a song, "Feels Like the Real Thing", which is becoming a beach music classic. It is one of the songs featured on their CD, "Legends of Beach".
For years, people have been wanting to see these guys back on stage performing together, and now it has finally come to fruition! Their songs include classic beach music, Motown classics by The Temptations, The Four Tops, Marvin Gaye, Jr. Walker, Jackie Wilson, as well as classic rhythm and blues, soul/rock and blues..

This is the ninth year that the Chamber has bought these popular events to the people of Granville County. We are fortunate that the events' popularity has extended into adjoining counties and into southside Virginia.
